The Common Man’s Party (CMP) has officially unveiled two strong contenders in the upcoming 2026 general elections, marking what party leaders are calling “the first step to victory.”
Popular media personality Miles Rwamiti has been duly nominated to contest for the Nakawa West Member of Parliament seat, while Eng Dafala Ssenjako has secured nomination to run for Kawempe South, both on the CMP ticket.
Rwamiti, a household name in Uganda’s entertainment and media circles, expressed confidence after his nomination, vowing to bring “a people-centered approach to leadership.”
He pledged to focus on community empowerment, youth employment, and transparent service delivery once elected.
“I am standing for the ordinary citizen—the common man who feels unheard. Together, we will rebuild trust between leaders and the people,” Rwamiti told reporters shortly after being nominated.
Eng. Ssenjako, on his part, emphasized infrastructure development and better urban planning for Kawempe South, promising to advocate for practical solutions to sanitation and transport challenges affecting residents.
CMP party president Mubarack Munyagwa, who recently suspended his own presidential campaign to rally behind party candidates, hailed the nominations as a historic milestone for the movement.
“This is just the beginning. The Common Man’s Party is rising—steadily, firmly, and with purpose,” Munyagwa declared.
“Our candidates represent integrity, service, and a new political spirit that speaks directly to the everyday Ugandan.”
He called on supporters across Kampala and beyond to unite behind the party’s message of inclusivity and grassroots empowerment, promising a vigorous campaign ahead.
The nominations mark a significant moment for CMP as it positions itself as a growing force in Uganda’s political landscape, aiming to amplify the voices of ordinary citizens in Parliament.
The campaigns are heating up, and all eyes will be on Rwamiti and Ssenjako to see how they translate their public appeal and professional experience into political traction.
